Submit your game

Fill in the game info, pass the checklist, and what happens in moderation, updates, languages and suggestions.

Every game starts as a draft that only you can see. When it is ready, you send it to review. A moderator checks it before it goes live.

Game info

Open the Settings tab of your draft:

  • Title and Description
  • Tags and Difficulty (easy, medium or hard)
  • Preview image: an https image link shown on cards and the game page
  • Language of the content: English, German, Spanish or French
  • Approx. play time in minutes. After three players finish, the real median time is shown instead.
  • Players can edit and copy: lets others copy the game into their own drafts. Copies link back to yours and go through review.
  • Only via link: hides the game from search, feeds and your profile. Anyone with the link can still play.
  • Allow change suggestions: on by default, see below.

The checklist

The Submit tab shows a checklist. You cannot submit until every item is done. For story games:

  • at least one sequence, and a start sequence is set
  • every target points to an existing sequence
  • at least one path leads to the end
  • all image, sound, video and jigsaw URLs start with https://
  • the story fits your plan's sequence limit

For video games:

  • the video has a duration and all beats, depth points, stops, overlays and climax markers lie inside it
  • at least 10 beats are set
  • the beats span a meaningful part of the video (at least a quarter of it, up to 60 seconds)

The editor also shows warnings, like unreachable sequences or dead ends. They do not block submission, but fix them.

Review

After you submit, the game is In review and locked. The queue is usually cleared within a day. You get a notification in the app and, if enabled, an email. A moderator approves it, or rejects it with a reason. Rejected games return to draft with the reason shown, so you can fix them and submit again. Published games can also be removed by moderators, for example after player reports, with a reason.

Updating a live game

You can keep editing a published game. Your changes go into an unpublished draft, and the live version stays untouched. When you Publish:

  • logic-only changes (beats, depth, story flow, numbers) go live right away
  • changed texts, images or media are checked by a moderator first, and the current version stays live meanwhile

Earlier published versions are listed under Versions. You can view one or restore it as a draft.

Languages

Each game has one content language. Players mostly see games in their own language. Translations into other languages are added by the OBEATR team, not by creators, and the original stays unchanged. If you change the content language, an existing translation into that language is removed.

Suggestions and co-editors

Signed-in players who have finished your game can suggest changes. You see exactly what changed and accept or decline with a reason. Accepting copies the changes into your draft, and you publish as usual. You can also invite co-editors, up to 5 per game. They can edit, publish and decide on suggestions, but cannot delete the game or change its settings. If a suggestion stays unanswered for 14 days, moderators can step in.
