FAQ
Why does my video not play?
Your browser may not support the file format, so try an MP4 or WebM file. Also check that you chose the right video: if its length differs from the game's expected length, OBEATR warns you that the beats may be out of sync. See Local video and Video games.
How many games can I play on Free?
Free allows 10 plays within any rolling 7 days, counted across your account and device. Basic, Pro and VIP have no play limit. Details are on the Plans page.
How do I cancel Patreon?
Memberships are managed on Patreon itself, in your Patreon account. When your support ends, your OBEATR plan follows. See Plans.
My device does not connect. What can I do?
Toys connect via Bluetooth, which works in Chrome. Make sure Bluetooth is on and the device is switched on and close by, then try connecting again. Step-by-step help is on the Devices page.
My story import fails. Why?
The editor accepts only valid story JSON and only says "This file isn't a valid story" if it is not. Ask your AI to check unique 8-character ids and the length limits (titles 60, labels 40, texts 2000). Check that your AI used the correct template and that the JSON is complete. See Write stories with AI and the story editor.
How do images get into my story?
Stories do not upload images. Each image comes from an external https link: a fixed URL, a random pick from a list, or a random pick from a subreddit, Imgur album or Redgifs source. See Image sources and Create a story with AI.
How do I report a game?
Use the Report button on the game page and choose a reason, such as spam, inappropriate content, copyright infringement or broken game. You must be logged in, and moderators review every report. To publish your own game, see Submit.
How do I change the language?
Use the language switcher in the app. OBEATR is available in English, German, Spanish and French. See Getting started.
Can I score points?
No. OBEATR has no scoring. You follow the rhythm, see Video games and Story games.
Which keyboard shortcuts exist?
See Shortcuts.
